Do you have a fear of being seen?
Carlos Saba at Adventures in Marketing, Edinburgh, February 6th
Last time, I talked about finding your niche—the people you're best placed to serve—by looking at your own journey.
But there’s something else that holds so many purpose-driven entrepreneurs back:
The fear of being seen.
Not just being seen.
Being judged.
Maybe you worry about saying the wrong thing.
Maybe you feel like an imposter.
Maybe you’re afraid that once you put yourself out there, someone will call you out, and you’ll wish you’d stayed quiet.
I get it.
We see this all the time in Vision 20/20.
One participant was terrified of posting on LinkedIn.
“I don’t want to be too visible,” they said. “What if people judge me?”
We encouraged them to do it anyway.
They finally put something out.
And then… crickets.
Not a single comment. Not a single like.
Their next worry? “No one cares what I have to say.”
At first, they feared being seen.
Then, they feared being invisible.
This is how fear works. It shapeshifts.
But here’s what they didn’t realise:
When you first start showing up, people aren’t judging. They’re just noticing.
They’ll start to engage when they see you again.
And again.
When your voice becomes familiar.
When your words start to feel like part of their world.
This is why, at the end of Vision 20/20, we run a 7-day content challenge.
We ask participants to post daily on LinkedIn.
Not to go viral.
Not to impress.
Just to get into the habit of showing up.
(Search "#Vision2020Challenge" to see their posts.)
Why LinkedIn?
Because it’s a business network. People are there to connect and engage professionally.
It’s safer than platforms like Facebook or X. It’s more constructive. And, most importantly, everyone there is real.
No fake profiles.
No anonymous trolls.
Just people, showing up as themselves.
Which is all we’re asking you to do.
Start Here: Define How You Want to Be Seen
Forget what people expect. Ask yourself:
✅ What stories feel natural for me to share?
✅ What format feels easiest? (Writing, speaking, teaching, conversations?)
✅ Where do I already feel comfortable showing up?
You don’t have to do it all.
Just take one step—a post, a share, a conversation.
Fear fades when you take action.
The right people will find you, but only if they can see you.
This is exactly what we help entrepreneurs do in Vision 20/20—find their voice, build confidence, and make showing up a habit, not a fear.
We're now enrolling for Tribe 11, which starts mid-March.
If you’re ready to step out of hiding and into the work you’re meant to do, let’s talk.
It’s easier to become visible when you have a safe space to practice.
Are you surrounded by others who understand what you’re going through and who give you encouragement?
