From inspiration to focus
Last time I wrote about money, meaning, and time - and how we can start to imagine having all three.
My month in Sardinia was my chance to really live that balance.
Slow mornings, long lunches, and plenty of time on the beach with my kids.
Space to switch off and (inevitably) space for the ideas to start flowing.
One thought sparks another, then another.
Soon I’m sketching out half a dozen possible futures in my head.
It’s exciting. But it can also be overwhelming.
Because here’s the truth: action without clarity is just noise.
This September energy - the buzz we feel when we come back from holiday - is a gift.
The challenge is to channel it into a future you’re genuinely excited about, instead of scattering it everywhere.
Spending focused time with my family reminded me of what matters most: connection, adventure, joy.
Those feelings need to stay at the heart of my work, not just my holidays.
They’re the filter for my actions.
Maybe you’re feeling the same way right now:
Parents - kids are back at school.
Business owners - the team’s back and the end of the year is already on the horizon.
Solopreneurs - you’re picking up contracts or figuring out what’s next.
Amidst all this, you might be buzzing with ideas. But which ones are worth your energy?
Here’s a simple way to focus it:
Reconnect → What matters most to you? What are you working towards?
Capture → Write the ideas down. Get them out of your head.
Filter → Which align with your values and your vision of the future?
Act small → Pick one experiment and give it a next step this week.
This is the heart of our Excite Strategy, and why we created tools like the Dream Map, Success Canvas, and Flow Matrix - simple ways to get clarity without overcomplicating things.
So if you’re brimming with post-summer ideas, try this: pick one, give it a small next step, and see what happens. That’s how momentum builds.
As the old saying goes:
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.”
So: what’s the seed you want to plant this September?
If you’d like to go deeper, we explored this in more detail in our Excite Strategy Summit — Episode 1: Leading with Needs.
It’s a conversation about how to filter ideas through what really matters, and it’s the first step to defining your Excite Strategy.
