Money, meaning, and more time: what if you could have all three?
Two weeks ago I landed back from Sardinia after a month away.
It was luxurious, laid-back, and long overdue.
A time to pause, reconnect with family (my dad’s from Sardinia), and remember what matters.
First week: my son and four of his friends. They’d just finished their GCSEs, so it was all about forgetting exams and enjoying freedom.
Final few days: just me and my daughter. She’d asked for daddy–daughter time. We went on an adventure, got lost on a mountain hike, no phone signal, baking sun.
One slip away from being a Netflix documentary.
(Note to self: having a map and companions who know the terrain isn’t just for coaching programs…)
In the middle, I whisked my wife away for a couple of nights in a mountain boutique hotel run by an artist. A blend of pampering and discovering hidden corners of Sardinia.
And with the whole family, a highlight: a night-time kayak trip to watch the ruby moon rise over the sea.
Floating under endless stars, moon glowing on the water - pure awe, pure wonder, and beautiful to share together.
And beautiful to share together.
Being away with family reminded me of something I keep needing to relearn:
Success isn’t just about goals.
It’s about how we spend our money, our time, and our energy.
It’s about the people we walk alongside and the purpose we point ourselves toward.
There’s the version of me that thrives on achievement and being busy.
And there’s the emerging version of me learning to be present, collect experiences, and savour the intangible-but-invaluable stuff.
These are the things that fuel our work and make life meaningful.
That’s why Laurence and I created Vision 20/20.
To help you define what success means to you - and to act in alignment with that.
When I started in the digital industry 25 years ago, all I wanted was to do good work and get paid.
Now, through The Happy Startup School, I’ve built a business that lets me do good work and replenish my energy.
It’s taken me years of going outside-in and inside-out.
What I’ve learnt is baked into the program:
It’s ok to define success on your own terms
You don’t have to do it alone.
Community is part of the journey.
If you’re new here, Vision 20/20 is our flagship group coaching program.
It runs twice a year, lasts 20 weeks, and brings together up to 20 people who want more freedom, purpose, and joy in their work.
It’s designed for midlife career changers and leaders ready to pivot. Those who want to make money, do good, and be happy.
It’s not about hustling harder.
It’s about making a course correction before another year slips by.
The next group starts in October. It’s fully online. You’ll meet weekly with me, Laurence, and “community alchemist” Lana Jelenjev, alongside others who are also ready to make this shift.
You’ll get structure, support, and a sense of possibility.
And you’ll leave with your personalised 10-year roadmap for meaningful work and life.
