Why doing less creates more

In my last blog post, I talked about committing and doing.

And you might be thinking, "I do too much already."

The thing is, most entrepreneurs think burnout comes from working too much.

But in my experience, it’s not just the hours.

It’s what you’re spending them on.

Burnout doesn’t happen because you’re working hard.

It happens when you’re working on the wrong things:

The things that drain you.
The things that feel like a grind.
The things that pull you away from what you actually love doing.

The hidden cost of misalignment

If your work constantly exhausts you, it’s not just about working fewer hours.

It’s about working on what actually energises you.

Think about the moments when your work feels effortless.

When time flies.
When you finish the day buzzing instead of collapsing.
That’s alignment.
That’s sustainability.

That’s the key to building a business that lasts.

How to work with (not against) your energy

Instead of pushing through and hoping things will get easier, audit your work:

What parts of your business drain you?

  • Are there tasks you dread?

  • Clients that deplete you?

  • Work that feels like a constant uphill battle?

What parts energise you?

  • Where do you feel most alive?

  • What work feels easy, natural, and exciting?

Where can you eliminate, delegate, or shift focus?

Not everything needs to be done by you.

  • What can you automate?

  • Simplify?

  • Let go of entirely?

What's the one small shift that changes everything? Design your work around your rhythms:

Work when you’re most energised.
Rest before you hit burnout.
Structure your days to support—not drain—you.
