Where your inner wild comes out to play
If I could bottle this feeling...
Of joy.
Of peace.
Of strength.
Of presence.
Of acceptance.
Of deep connection.
This is what scaling deeply feels like.
True alignment - to yourself, your ideas, and one another.
I find myself reflecting on a journey that was everything I dreamt of and more.
Last week, we embarked on Alptitude Into the Wild.
With backpacks loaded - not just with gear, but also the mental baggage we all carry - we ventured into the mountains. A small group of entrepreneurs and business leaders left behind families and other responsibilities for a few precious days of reflection and reset.
We travelled through ancient forests, across sweeping alpine meadows, past crystal-clear mountain lakes, and over snowy trails that challenged both body and mind.
Each evening, we arrived at a new mountain hut, tired but fulfilled. We shared drinks by crackling fires, enjoyed simple meals that somehow tasted better than any gourmet creation, and drifted off to sleep in cosy beds with the knowledge that tomorrow would bring new discoveries - both of the landscape and ourselves.
It was about getting back to basics, and back to what really matters in our lives.
Finding our wild
There's something transformative about stepping away from screens, deadlines, and the constant hum of modern life.
In the wilderness, stripped of our usual comforts and routines, we found space to think clearly again.
Conversations on the trail had a different quality.
More honest.
More present.
Ideas flowed freely as we hiked, each step bringing new clarity.
The mountains have a way of putting things in perspective, of making the important things obvious and the trivial fall away.
A huge thanks to all participants who shared this journey. And special gratitude goes to the one and only Arno de Jong from AlpAdventures, who went above and beyond to make this experience possible.
Arno pushed us to our limits and guided us to secret hideaways so pristine and magical that I both want to share them with everyone I know and also keep quiet about because they remain so beautifully untouched.
'Into The Wild' was indeed the perfect name for our adventure.
Coming home changed
Personally I'm returning with a sense of inspiration and renewed purpose that only comes from disconnecting to reconnect. And others have told me they are feeling the same too.
I’m also excited about the possibilities of a community that grows and deepens with every adventure, with roots around the world.
Perhaps the most valuable thing we can do as leaders is to occasionally step away, find our wild, and return with fresh eyes and open hearts.
That's not just scaling a mountain.
That's scaling deeply.
What mountain - literal or figurative - are you planning to climb next?
If you want to let your inner wild out to play, come join us in the Alps from June 14-21 for our 10th annual Alptitude – a 7-day retreat with a bit more luxury and space but still with the same magical ingredients.
Alptitude has a way of changing you forever.
It's where founders and leaders arrive with a burning question or challenge and leave brimming with clarity and courage.
A place to level up your vision, thinking and network – all by doing less.
PS. Thanks to Mark Vletter for the photos of the trip
